What is Moodle

Moodle, in one sentence, is a Learning Management System (LMS) which means a website where you can share course information with students and then manage and track their activity and progress.

A bit more in depth, Moodle is a website which is password-protected so only you and your staff and students etc, have access to it. Inside of this website you can access course information that people shared on Moodle. Here is a view a student would see of courses:

But there’s more. 🙂

There are more features ink Moodle, which we will detail below, each in its own section.

Students

You can upload students lists, or students can register themselves. You can then view and edit student lists like this:

Moodle Students

And also view and edit the details of any student and store notes and images etc.

Course Sections and Activities

Now that I have my courses ready, we need to detail which sections each course will have. Here is a sample of sections for a course in PHP programming:

Each section can now have “activities” and “resources” including things like assignments, tests, surveys, forums and more:

Grading

Grades for online exams are automatic, or you can enter grades manually for offline exams and projects:

Calendar

Share a calendar of course events online:

Contacts

Store and share contact information:

Other

There are many other features, including online editors and media support for online videos. There are other features and tools as well, and new ones being added all the time.

I hope this gives you an idea of what Moodle is and how you can use it. If you have any questions, just contact us.
